Because I've been away from the updating of this site for
so long, the info below is outdated - it is now Nov 21, 2004 and we are
still waging the Iraq war and I am still convinced our participation is for
reasons other than to free Iraq. But as stated below, that does not
make me "against" the U.S. or "for" terrorists. As I update this site,
I'll also update this page and will be glad to print your views. Carol

I would like to say that, contrary to
what some people think, all those (including me) who support peace are not
necessarily against the U.S. or for Sadd
am.
I am very proud to be an American - very proud that I have freedom of
speech. If Saddam did indeed die in
yesterday's (April 8) bombing, I am grateful! He will now be answering
direct to God for his actions. I still think there could have been
another way besides attacking Iraq and I am not convinced that our reasons
were only to free the Iraqis from the horrible trauma of living under
Saddam. I am honored that I live in a country where I can voice my
concerns and not go to jail (or worse) for stating them.
I do support our troops and I pray daily for their safety. I keep a light
burning for peace - I have a bumper sticker that says "Imagine
Peace" and I do! I read newspapers and websites from both sides
and encourage all to do the same. We have the wonderful opportunity
here in America to keep informed and to keep talking. I am
concerned about those freedoms disappearing without anyone noticing until
they are gone. I urge you to read the Patriot Act and, if you have
concerns with ANY of its content to voice those concerns. I urge you
to check out sites such as
www.moveon.org and others who advocate for peace.
I urge you to follow the links and read everything - both sides.
Knowledge is such a valuable gift. Please consider listening to all
views. I was so pleased to read that veteran, Vern Simila of the
Copper Country Peace Alliance, chose to walk in two Houghton/Hancock parades
last Saturday. He marched in support of the troops in the morning and
in support of peace in the afternoon.
I would also like to clarify the difference between
Ramblin' Rose Arts Center and Keweenaw Krayons - Ramblin' Rose is a private
for-profit venture - and rents space to the non-profit arts organization,
Keweenaw Krayons. The views put forth on this site are not necessarily
the views of everyone on the wonderful staff, or the board, supporters and
participants of Keweenaw Krayons.
To find out more about Keweenaw Krayons, and
ways you can help to keep ART alive in these days of budget cuts, I invite
you to go to
